"Glory of women" is a poem written by Siegfried Sasoon,a sonnet with 14 lines, divided in two parts, a octet and then sestet with a constant rhyme scheme. The poem basically tells us about a soldier`s life influensed by a woman.
On the first part (octet) talks about idealization of the soldiers on the war but, seen from a women point of view. this womenm mostly sees the soldiers as some tpe of hero or someone that aspires always for victory.
On the second part (sestet) the theme changes completely. Fisrt of all, all the sarcastic tone and talks really how the war really was. For exapmle, "You can`t believe that British troops "retire"", it is telling us that not everithing in war is positive for the one side. This realistic tone continues through the poem until it ends.
Also, i will like to say that this poem has produced me an impact because of the imagery and images the poem transmits while you are reading it. This images makes the reader understand more about the poem and to really thik like one of them, like being on the war.
Finally, understanding the position of the woman on this poem, transmits you the stress that can produce you thinking how does the women have felt waiting there at home without any notice of her husband.
